The veteran principlist also predicted that the moderate reformists, who have not crossed the red lines and overstepped the principles laid out in the Constitution, will enter the scene and take part in election campaigns.

In related news, a senior Iranian official said technical efforts are underway to prepare the grounds for the use of a computerized voting system in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference in Tehran on Monday, the Spokesman for Guardian Council -- Iran's election watchdog -- Abbas Ali Kadkhodaei said preparations are being made for holding computerized elections, IRNA reported.

“If these measures are successful like last year we will be ready to hold computerized elections,” he added.

According to Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar, Iran's next parliamentary elections have been set for next March.

The last parliamentary election in Iran was held in 2008, when Principlist won a majority of seats in the 275-seat chamber.
