Iran Slams Killing of Afghan Officials

TEHRAN, July 19 (ICANA) – Head of Iran's Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi has condemned the recent assassination of Afghan officials.

Boroujerdi offered his condolences over “the recent crime of terrorist in Afghanistan” on Monday.

On July 12, Ahmad Wali Karzai, the younger brother of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, was killed in the southern Pakistani city of Kandahar.

A bomb detonated in a mosque in Kandahar during a memorial ceremony for Ahmad Wali Karzai two days later.

At least four people, including the head cleric of Kandahar's Ulema Council, Maulvi Hekmatullah, were killed and 13 others were injured in the explosion.

On July 17 Jan Mohammad Khan, the former governor of southern province of Uruzgan, who was also a senior advisor to Karzai and a member of parliament, was killed in an attack in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul.

Mohammad Hashem Watanwal, another member of parliament, was also killed while he was visiting Khan.
