Iran Rejects Media Reports on Saudi Talks

TEHRAN, July 19 (ICANA) – Iran's Foreign Minister Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has rejected Kuwaiti media reports about Tehran's efforts to hold talks with Saudi officials.

“Whenever we make a decision with regards to the trip of our country's officials to Saudi Arabia, we will announce it through formal channels,” Mehmanparast said at his weekly press conference on Tuesday.

“Relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia could be helpful and effective. We believe strengthening ties and resolving misunderstandings will definitely help establishing peace and security in the region,” Fars News Agency quoted Mehmanparast as saying.

The Iranian official added that decisions would be made based on the situation in the region.

Mehmanparast went on to say that cooperation among Iran, Turkey, Iraq and Syria and other regional countries could improve stability, security, development and progress in the region.
