TEHRAN, July 27 (ICANA) – Iraqi Minister of Justice Hassan Al Shamari said that the four agreements signed with Iran have been approved by the Council of Ministers and House of Representatives.

Agreements with Iran Await Parliamentary Approval

The minister said during his meeting with the Iranian ambassador Hassan Danaiefar Wednesday, that the four agreements on the table of the House of Representatives, will be followed up with the legal committee in the parliament, Iraqi IBA news agency reported.

He added that the ministry was working to open channels of cooperation and exchange of views with the Iranian side to complete the pending between the two countries.

Al Shamari held meetings in the first round of negotiations on the signing of agreements on legal and judicial cooperation in criminal matters, extradition and transfer of convicts, legal and judicial cooperation in civil matters and personal status between the governments of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On his part, Daniafard assured that the four agreements have been ratified by the Iranian parliament and Iran is ready to complete their implementation as soon as possible.

He clarified that the implementation of these agreements will contribute to the resumption of legal and judicial cooperation and extradition and transfer of convicts between the two countries. He pointed out that most of Iranian prisoners in Iraqi prisons have been arrested on visits to the holy shrines.
