No Iranian Forces Crossed into Iraq: Parliamentary Committee

Speaking at a press conference at the Iraqi parliament, a member of the committee admitted that there was no crossing by Iranian troops into Iraqi territory in the wake of recent unrests on Iran-Iraqi Kurdistan border.

According to Al-Jazeera, head of the fact-finding committee Hassan al-Soneid also underlined the need for strengthening of diplomatic ties between Tehran and Baghdad and a resolution of the existing problems and warned against possible negative impacts such events may have on bilateral friendly relations.

The IRGC has deployed military forces in the northwest of the country along its common border with Iraq's Kurdistan, and has been fighting the PJAK terrorist group over the past weeks.

Members of the PJAK -- an offshoot of Turkey's outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party -- regularly engage in armed clashes with Iranian security forces along the country's western borders with Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.
