New Majlis Faction Launched

The new faction is headed by Seyed Shahabedin Sadr, second deputy speaker of parliament.

Speaking to ICANA, Sadr said his group will closely monitor the Islamic awakening trend and plans to meet with revolutionary groups in the region who are fighting US and Israeli despotism.

He said the group will most probably hold its first session next week, adding that the faction will operate under the Majlis Association of Principlists and share their goals and inspirations.

In a note posted on his website on the occasion, Sadr noted that the big wave of Islamism spreading in the Middle East, North Africa and even Europe is undoubtedly inspired by the Islamic revolution of Iran under the leadership of the late Imam Khomeini and his successor Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

He added that the Islamic revolution of Iran has played a key and strategic role in shaping, guiding and managing the Islamic awakening in the region.
