Larijani Felicitates Counterparts on Eid Al-Fitr

Larijani extended his best wishes for them in addition to divine blessings in the fasting month.

Referring to regional developments, especially the issue of Palestine and the upcoming Fifth International Conference on Supporting Palestine in Tehran, he said that under the current circumstances dialogue between the Islamic countries for defending the rights of the Palestinians is imperative.

“The issue of Palestine should not be consigned into oblivion amid the ongoing developments in the region,” he noted.

Larijani also invited the Iraqi, Kuwaiti and Omani parliament speakers to attend the conference.

Osama al-Najifi of Iraq, Jasim al-Kharafi of Kuwait and Ahmad bin Mohammad al-Isavi of Oman for their part, congratulated Larijani on the occasion and thanked Iran for the special attention it pays to defending the rights of Palestinians.

They described the issue of Palestine as the key issue of the Muslim World and underlined the significance of regular consultations among the Muslim leaders on international and regional issues.

They also thanked their Iranian counterpart for the invitation and expressed hope to attend the event.

Iranian Parliament will host an international conference in support of Palestine to be held October 1-2 to mark the martyrdom of Mohammad Dowra, a Palestinian child killed by the Israeli troops in his father's arms. The incident has become a symbol of resistance in Palestine.

The Palestinians staged their first uprising against the Israeli occupiers of their territories, between 1987 and 1993, and a second time in 2000s.

A total of 6,200 Palestinians died during the popular movements, which were fiercely confronted by Tel Aviv.

Palestinians have warned of a third intifada, should Israel continue the occupation of their lands and the trampling of their rights.
