Arrogant Powers Trying to Distort Region's Revolutionary Aims into Limited Demands

Rapporteur  of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis), Kazem Jalali made the remark in comments made about IRI Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei's warning against plots hatched by enemies to hijack the Muslim world's achievements.

Speaking to ICANA on Monday, Jalali added: "Not only the wrong policies of the US and certain European states but the dependence of statesmen of the revolutionary states on the Western and American powers were important factors in the awakening of their peoples."

The lawmaker said the Americans had realized the wrongfulness of their policies since long time ago, adding: "Execution of these policies which brought them (the West) isolation before the public opinion in the Middle East and North Africa made the Western officials to seek a way out of this impasse."

To this end, Jalali noted, they brought up the idea of a new Middle East in order to create a guided democracy in the region. But the US and the West never succeeded in creating a new Middle East to comply with their own policies. "They failed because the Americans did not dare to take the risk of changing dictatorial regimes and bringing to power their own satellites in the region."

Referring to the revolutionary uprisings in the region, the MP said: "After these revolutions were shaped the US first tried to put up an iron guard against them to prevent their victory which was not effective."

Jalali said when Hosni Mubarak was still heading Egypt the US tried to keep the dictator in power but failed to do so due to the Egyptian people's vigilance. He added that Washington's support for Yemen's Ali Abdullah Saleh is in line with the same policy and is continuing.

Jalali went to say: "In order to undermine and neutralize the revolution in Bahrain, the US issued the order for the Saudi government and Bahraini police to massacre the people. Only in Tunisia the US and the West were not able to take effective measures because the revolutionary people of the country were very quick in their uprising and caught the West by surprise."

In Libya too, the West tried to change the revolutionary people's mind but they failed gain.

The MP said the US and certain European states had another vicious scheme in the second stage, namely in post-revolutionary era. At this stage, he said, the US is trying to mislead the people's revolution in an attempt to deviate the main goals of their revolution.

To implement this part of their scheme, Jalali said, the arrogant powers are trying to distort the great movements of the people into limited political and economic demands.

He also said the experience of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran was a best choice for the revolutionary countries to study. "Before the revolution there were numerous efforts to prevent its victory. After the revolution too they tried to deviate the revolution through different conspiracies. But their vicious attempts failed thanks to the wise leadership of Imam Khomeini."

In the opinion of the Iranian MP, one of the problems of the revolutionary nations in the region was the vacuum of leadership which he said can be made up for through joint understanding and proximity of views among these nations.
