Commenting on a plan to hold an International Islamic Awakening Conference in Tehran later this month, the lawmaker told ICANA on Monday that Muslim nations can get inspiration from the Islamic Revolution of Iran and be transformed. He said the Iranian revolution formed a government based on the teachings of the Islamic religion and indigenized the modern science and technology in ordere to attain progress and development.

The lawmaker said awakening of revolutionary nations required guidance and noted: "The first stage was awakening and vigilance which aroused the spirit dominating the Middle East against arrogance and dictatorship. Now is the time for the liberating uprisings to get coordinated."

Ebrahimi said today the Western powers were in control of influential legal circles in the world but unity and coordination among Muslims would also enable them play an effective part in determining the course of international events.

Referring to West's attempt to hijack the people's revolutions in the Middle East, the MP said the Islamic Awakening Conference is a step towards coordinating Islamic resolve against imperialism and arrogant powers in order to revive the glory of the Islamic civilization.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Sunday, Secretary-General of the International Islamic Awakening Conference Ali Akbar Velayati pointed to the 200-year-long history of Islamic awakening in the region, and stressed, "Muslim intellectuals and thinkers have had good interaction during the 200-year-long history of Islamic awakening in the region and Iran has had a strong role during that era."

He said Iran's Islamic Revolution led by the Late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, is the source of inspiration for the growing tide of Islamic awakening in the region.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is due to host a high-profile international conference on the rising tides of Islamic Awakening in the Middle-East and North Africa later this month.

Velayati, who is the Secretary-General of the conference, also told reporters that "the conference will be held in Tehran on September 17-18 and attended by thinkers and intellectuals from 80 different world countries".
