MP demands IRIB not to air cheap foreign movies

TEHRAN, Sept 19 (ICANA) – Spokesman for Iran's Parliament (Majlis) Cultural Commission, Seyyed Ramazan Shojaee Kiasari, criticized Islamic Republic of Iran's Broadcasting (IRIB) for airing films not consistent with Iranian culture and identity.

In an interview with ICANA on Monday, Shojaee Kiasari said: "IRIB is continuing to broadcast cheap and substandard films produced abroad that are not consistent with the national culture and identity."

Shojaee Kiasari who represents the northern city of Sari in the Iranian parliament expressed discomfort with the way foreign movies are extensively aired in the Iranian TV channels.

He further noted: "most of the foreign movies which are shown to the viewers in the TV channels are merely based on visual special effects and mostly incompatible with the culture and religious teachings."
