TEHRAN, Oct 1 (ICANA) – A senior Iranian legislator hailed the efforts made by Tehran to materialize the rights of the world's oppressed people, and said Iran has become the leader of the international anti-arrogance front.

"Iran has opened a powerful and big front against the arrogant powers," Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi Fard told Fars News Agency on the sidelines of the 5th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada in Tehran on Saturday.

"Today the Islamic Republic of Iran has turned into a powerful base for promulgating religious teachings and revolutionary thoughts and for clarifying the exalted goals of Islam and protecting the Islamic, religious and national identity of the Islamic Ummah," he said.

Aboutorabi Fard reiterated that Iran has also paved the ground for the promotion of the level of knowledge and insight of the Muslim nations.

The 5th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada started work here in Tehran on Saturday morning in the presence of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

Over 50 parliamentary delegations and political figures, elites and intellectuals and many state officials from Muslim and non-Muslim countries have participated in the event in support of the Palestinian intifada. 

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani chairs the two-day conference.

The Iranian top legislator is also slated to hold separate meetings with several parliamentary delegations on the sidelines of the conference.

According to the secretary of the conference, parliamentary delegations from Qatar, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Indonesia, Kuwait, Paraguay, Zimbabwe, Zanzibar, Comoros, Malawi, Egypt, Oman, Ivory Coast, Mexico, Malaysia, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Cuba, Sudan, Bolivia, Caucasus, Hungary, Colombia, Tanzania, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Sierra Leone and Afghanistan are present in the meeting.
