In an interview with ICANA on Friday, Kouhkan added on that spy activities by the UK and other Western states are not limited to a single method and cover a wide spectrum of economic, cultural, social and even charity and relief activities.

“Due to open political atmosphere in Iran, it is our natural and inalienable right to find and stop any person who wants to do anything against the interests of the sacred establishment of the Islamic Republic and pass information to spy networks under the guise of reporter or another cover,” he added.

The lawmaker said the state-funded BBC is 100 percent under the control of the British government and even in the recent unrest in London it did not give coverage to street protests in the manner independent media did.

On September 20, Iran's Intelligence Ministry arrested members of an illegal network charged with feeding the UK information under the guise of working for the state-run BBC.

According to an Iranian Intelligence Ministry statement, the members of the network provided the BBC with propaganda subjects to be exploited in psychological warfare by the enemies of Iran and Islam.

The statement added that the members of the network, some of whom have been arrested, carried out anti-Iran missions commissioned by the BBC through illegal underground activities in return for massive sums of money.
