Iran interested in African ties

He made the remarks in a meeting with former Tanzanian President Ali Hassan Mwinyi and Parliament Speaker of Zanzibar semi-autonomous region, Pandu Ameir Kificho, on the sidelines of the fifth International Conference on the Palestinian Intifada in Tehran on Sunday.

Larijani went on to say that Iran eyes relations with African countries with special interest.

The Iranian Majlis speaker also described the ongoing Islamic Awakening in the Middle East and North Africa as a new phase in the struggle of regional nations for the reinstatement of Palestinian rights.

Mwinyi, for his part, said that the international community must come together against the threats posed by the Israeli regime.

He said summits such as the fifth International Conference on the Palestinian Intifada in Tehran will reveal to the world, especially Muslim nations, the true nature of Israel's occupation and apartheid practices.
