Iranian MPs criticize anti-Islamic moves in Netherlands

In the letter, which has been signed by legislators from different political factions and religious backgrounds, they have called on Dutch lawmakers to draft and approve a set of laws to prevent the promotion of Islamophobia in the Netherlands.

Measures such as producing the movies of Submission and Fitna, publishing offensive cartoons and articles against Islam, prohibiting the construction of mosques and promoting Islamophobia in the Netherlands, and lack of freedom of expression on the holocaust issue in the country are not justifiable, the letter said.

The letter was in fact a reply to a letter by Dutch MPs dated March, 17, 2011 in which they had commented on the situation of human rights in Iran.

About 215 Iranian MPs, in another letter addressed to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, had previously called on him to review trade and political links with Denmark and the Netherlands as a response to the anti-Islamic and Islamophobic sentiments in the two countries.
