US anti-Iran claim diversionary tactic

“Today, America is witnessing a popular uprising called the [Occupy] Wall Street uprising which has targeted the hostile policies of the rulers of the country. Therefore, the US seeks to divert the public opinion from the Wall Street revolt,” said Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the head of Iran's Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in a report by the Fars news agency on Wednesday.

His comments come on the heels of the latest anti-Iran allegations by Washington in which the US Justice Department accused Iran of involvement in a plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to the United States Adel Al-Jubeir with the help of a suspected member of a Mexican drug cartel.

Boroujerdi emphasized that the Islamic Republic has been a victim of terrorism and the recent claim by US officials merely a “big lie.”

America's new plot is doomed to fail and Washington cannot manipulate the popular uprising in the country by resorting to such schemes, the legislator reiterated.
