Iran supports four-party talks in Iraq

Bern, Switzerland, Oct 17, IRNA -- Speaker of the Iranian Majlis (Parliament) Ali Larijani said on Monday that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports the quadrilateral talks in Iraq.

He made the remark in a meeting with the Iraqi Parliament speaker Hesam al-Najifi held on the sidelines of the 125th Assembly of Inter-parliamentary Union underway in Bern, Switzerland.

Appreciating his counterpart for partaking in the International Conference for Palestinian Intifada in Iran last month, he said, “Iran support Iraq, Iran, Turkey and Saudi Arabia talks on Iraq to strengthen the mutual relations.'

Larijani described the four-party talks to combat the religious tribalism as a means to reduce enemies’ malicious moves.

He assured al-Najifi to follow up what he had proposed in Tehran Int’l Conference to support Palestine Intefada.

Iraqi Parliament speaker called for Tehran-Baghdad expansion of ties and said that Iraq is considering the proposal of holding quadrilateral talks which will be held after Hajj.

The talks will primarily be held among parliament speakers of the four countries in Baghdad,“ al-Najifi added.
