Saudi anti-Iran claims may be costly

Regretfully, Al Saud has placed Saudi Arabia and its capacities in line with the anti-Islamic interests of the US,” Member of Iran's Majlis (parliament) Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy Hossein Naqavi said on Thursday, IRNA reported.

Naqavi further called on Saudi leaders to be “careful” about the statements they make against the Iranian nation.

Al Saud shouldn't abuse the respect the Iranian nation and administration holds for the Shia and Sunni Muslims of Saudi Arabia,” he said.

Last week, the US Justice Department accused Iran of involvement in a plot to assassinate Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Washington Adel Al-Jubeir with help from a suspected member of a Mexican drug cartel.

Later on the same day, Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal said his country would “hold Iran accountable for any action taken against us” and threatened to take a “measured response” in reaction to the American anti-Iran publicity campaign.

Tehranhas rejected the recent US allegations, saying the media hype promoted by Washington is an attempt to deflect international attention from the anti-corruption and anti-corporatism protests currently rocking the country.
