US slander aims to divert attention

"While the superpowers had made special plans for the region, the Islamic Awakening disturbed all the equations of the West and the US," Deputy Speaker of Iran's Majlis (parliament) Seyyed Shahabeddin Sadr said, Majlis news agency reported on Thursday.

On October 11, US Justice Department accused Iran of involvement in a plot to assassinate Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Washington Adel Al-Jubeir with help from a suspected member of a Mexican drug cartel.

Tehranrejected the US allegations, saying the media hype promoted by Washington is an attempt to deflect international attention from the anti-corruption and anti-corporatism protests currently rocking the country.
