Larijani lauds Bolivia anti-West stance

The resistance of the Bolivian government and nation against the pressure and voracity of world powers has raised the country's status in international relations, Larijani said in a meeting with Head of Bolivian Parliament Foreign Policy Commission Galo Silvestre Bonifas on Wednesday.

Larijani called for promotion of ties with Bolivia, saying that expansion of ties with Latin American countries in various areas, particularly economic and parliamentary sectors, is a priority in Iran's foreign policy, ISNA reported.

Mutual cooperation between parliaments of Iran and Bolivia could provide grounds for further development of ties between the two countries, Larijani said.

Bonifas, for his part, said Iran's experience and achievements over the past thirty years serve as a good model of management and planning for the Bolivian government.

Bonifas also held a meeting with Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Salehi said that Iran was ready to provide Bolivia with technology and expertise in various fields including oil, gas, agriculture, medicine and food industries.

Heading a parliamentary delegation, Bonifas arrived in Tehran on Tuesday to hold talks with senior Iranian officials.

Iranhas been pushing for the expansion of ties with Latin American countries in recent years, describing the effort as a major foreign policy strategy.
