Amano must present fair report

Member of the Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mostafa Kavakebian told Mehr News Agency on Friday that considering it excerpts, the UN nuclear chief should either modify the final report or recant it.

Referring to US allegations against Iran he added, “American officials want this report to be against Iran's nuclear activities.”

“We should wait for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to announce the final report but I believe that this report should be realistically regulated.”

Kavakebian said Iran has announced its opposition to nuclear weapons and “the countries who claim Tehran is making weapons must offer strong evidence that is admissible in court, otherwise publishing reports of this kind is illogical and unjustified. “

The US, Israel and their allies accuse Iran of pursuing objectives in its nuclear program.

As a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the IAEA, Iran maintains that it has the right to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Iran has so far undergone countless IAEA inspections which have never found evidence of any diversion in the country's nuclear program.

Amano is scheduled to submit his new report on Iran's nuclear case to IAEA member states on November 8, one week ahead of the November 17-18 meeting of the agency's Board of Governors.
