Iran's Revolution marked US decline

The Islamic Revolution succeeded to set a model for resistance against the US oppression, Fars News Agency quoted Boroujerdi as saying on Thursday.

“Today and at the outset of the fourth decade of the life of the Islamic Revolution, the fruits of the tree of the Islamic Revolution are manifested in the form of the Islamic Awakening in the world,” he added.

Boroujerdi further said the seizure of the US embassy in Tehran by Iranian university students on November 4, 1979 marked the beginning of the decline of the US grandeur and power in the world.

“With this grand deed, the people of the world learned that it's possible to stand up against a superpower and reclaim [one's] right,” the senior Iranian lawmaker said.

In 1979, a group of Iranian university students, calling themselves "students following the line of [late] Imam [Khomeini]", insisted that the US embassy compound had become a center of espionage that engaged in planning to overthrow the nascent Islamic Republic establishment in Iran.

The emergence of documents later backed up the students' claim, proving that the compound was indeed engaged in schemes and measures to overthrow Iran's Islamic establishment.
