US losing clout in Middle East

The hatred of regional nations towards US policies is the root cause of the popular uprisings in the region, said Boroujerdi in a meeting with Zimbabwe's presidential spokesman George Charamba in Tehran.

Boroujerdi also stressed the importance of strengthening Tehran-Harare cooperation to counter the arrogant policies of hegemonic powers, ISNA reported.

Regional and international cooperation between the two countries will play a leading role in reinforcing global peace and stability and restoring the rights of all oppressed people, said the Iranian legislator.

Boroujerdi stated that Iran's Majlis welcomes any effort aimed at expanding mutual relations with Zimbabwe in political, economic, scientific and parliamentary fields.

Charamba, for his part, emphasized that the US represents the biggest threat to global peace and security.

US actions in the Middle East and North Africa are lead to the suppression of the legitimate rights of the oppressed nations, he added.

The Zimbabwean official emphasized that independent countries should utilize their potentials to restore the rights of oppressed nations through the expansion of joint cooperation.
