“NATO's missile or radar system in Turkey is in fact the eye of Israel in the region and this will not help the security of Turkey and the regional countries. However, it is set to cause insecurity,” said Boroujerdi.

The senior legislator pointed out that the Israeli regime, which is in possession of hundreds of nuclear warheads, is the leading source of intimidation and insecurity in the region, but Tehran is capable of countering Tel Aviv's threats relying on its advanced defense capabilities, Fars news agency reported on Wednesday.

Boroujerdi made reference to an official visit by an Iranian parliamentary delegation to Turkey in mid-November and said that during the trip Tehran expressed its objection to Ankara's consensus with NATO in using Turkish soil for the establishment of its radar system.

The Turkish officials have assured the Iranian delegation that NATO is not allowed to use the missile system against Tehran, the legislator added.

In September, Ankara agreed to host NATO's "early warning radar system" aimed at countering ballistic missile threats coming from outside Europe.

According to Pentagon, the radar base which is set to be established in the eastern province of Malatya near Iran's border, will be deployed by the end of the year.
