Student protest symbolized Iran's public opinion

Speaking with reporters during a press conference here in Tehran on Wednesday, Larijani said, "The former Shah of Iran was a subservient of the Britain and he was expelled by the Iranian people during the 1979 revolution due to his devotion to the Western powers."

"Unfortunately, expelling the dictator did not end Britain's mischievous efforts and the British government continued its hostile policies over the past decades," he added.

He further noted that diplomacy is based on realities, not on hypocrisy and the UK's efforts seem to be in line with diplomacy but it is in fact following the path of hostility toward Iran.

"Majlis bill to downgrade diplomatic ties with London was in fact a clear response to Britain's hostility and animosity toward Iranian nation," he added.
