Iran protests, UK's just comeuppance

Falahatpisheh, who heads Iran's Majlis (parliament) Foreign Relations Sub-committee, stated on Wednesday that the protest was the reaction of students, as the intellectual class of the Iranian society, to the role played by Britain in distorting the realities on the ground in Iran.

He said the positions adopted by the British and other foreign political officials on the rally were not realistic. “They tried to magnify this issue, but we believe that it was completely normal and had stemmed from Britain's biased policies [against Iran].”

“Over the past three years, the British politicians have lost their leverages of influence and presence in the region and are trying to change a lost game into an international win and harmonize other countries with themselves in the path of [the imposition of] sanctions [against Iran],” the official said.

“I have always recommended that we [confront Briton's anti-Iran policies by] acting in a legal manner, controlling the emotionally-charged atmosphere, and not providing the British politicians with excuses,” he added.
