The double-urgency of the bill was also rejected by the lawmakers and the bill will be debated based on Majlis routine schedule.
Based on Iran's constitution, every ten years, the parliament should increase the number of the lawmakers by 20.
However, during Majlis open session on Sunday, some parliamentarians including Hossein Tavakoli argued that the parliament is not necessarily supposed to increase the number of the parliament seats.
"Based on the demographic situation of the constituencies, the parliament is provided with the mandate to increase the number of the legislators," Tavakoli added.
