"The western warships' trafficking in the region is a longstanding issue but generally it should be said that such trafficking has no impact on the Islamic Republic," Heidarpour said on Wednesday.

"Westerners more like to show muscles while their military buildup and show of force has no meaning for us," Heidarpour said, adding that Iran is in control of the Northern coasts of the Persian Gulf and enjoys an upper-hand in possible actions in the region.

The remarks by the Iranian lawmaker came days after the British Navy announced that it has dispatched HMS Daring, one of its most advanced warship to the Persian Gulf.
