5+1 calls for negotiations are diplomatic lip service

“The European Union’s adoption of the policy of imposing more sanctions in addition to the United Nations Security Council resolutions indicates that the 5+1 call for negotiation is nothing more than diplomatic lip service,” Falahatpisheh said on Wednesday.

He also said, “The wall of lack of confidence between Iran and the 5+1 cannot be pulled down through (EU foreign policy chief) Ms. (Catherine) Ashton’s expression of hope.”

Falahatpisheh added, “Under the current circumstances, the 5+1 call for negotiations, without announcing the agenda and the content of negotiations, should not be taken seriously unless we see” a departure from the policy of imposing sanctions.

He also said that the policy of signaling readiness for negotiations and exerting pressure on the Islamic Republic at the same time goes against all international regulations.
