Tehran, Feb 2, (ICANA) – Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi referred to many defeated US Mideast plans here Wednesday, arguing Americans have been after regime change in Syria as of old times, all facing defeat, and this time too Washington’s plot against Damascus is doomed to defeat.

Boroujerdi added, “Many US plans for the region have been unsuccessful, and on that basis we hope their plans for Syria this time, too, would lead nowhere.”

Referring to Washington’s direct involvement in the plot to change the Syrian political system, he added, “The US effort in that respect is also backed by some regional countries, such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar, under the US pressure.”

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had earlier Wednesday opined that the Syrian political system must change, arguing, “Assad’s regime has now lost control of the affairs even in the vicinity of capital city, Damascus.”

The representative of Boroujerd constituency at the Parliament focusing on the recent anti-Iranian stand of Director of US National Intelligence, James R. Clapper, said, “Iran’s established foreign policy is campaign against all kinds of terrorism under any conditions, but the Americans with their kidnappings worldwide and assistance for the terrorist groups in the region, are practically the accomplices and by the side of the racist-Zionist regime, the international symbol of state terrorism.”

He added, “Comments by that top US intelligence official are totally out of context, rejected and unacceptable.”

He further noted, “Keeping in mind the EU foreign policy chief Catharine Ashton’s proposal on west’s readiness for resuming talks, it seems as if they would start in near future.”

Pointing out that the outcome of the negotiations has always been important for the Islamic Republic of Iran, he added, “If the new consultations between Iran and 5+1G would be held at a logical atmosphere, based on mutual respect, than we could say that pursuing the diplomatic ways on Iran’s nuclear program would finally lead to tangible results.”
