"Iran has embarked on banning oil supplies (to EU countries) in reaction to the oil embargo imposed by the Europeans, and this retaliatory move is an international norm," Boroujerdi said on Monday.

"The West embarked on sanctioning Iran's oil but we took a pre-emptive action and put the embargo into effect in a bid to make the West realize that it should adopt decisions logically," he stated, adding that Iran will show proportionate reaction to EU's illogical decisions.

Iran's Oil Ministry announced on Sunday that it has halted oil exports to British and French firms in a pre-emptive move in retaliation for the EU decision to impose an oil ban against Iran.
