Larijani made the remark at a gathering of athletes in Qom city on Thursday night.

'Due to the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, the despotic regimes affiliated to the US have either collapsed or on the verge of collapse. That is why the imperialists are trying to break the firm will of the Iranian nation,' he added.

Majlis speaker pointed out that international pressures such as sanctions and some threats by the big power against the Islamic Republic of Iran have all made the Iranians more determined to move towards progress, development and self-esteem.

'Today the Islamic Republic of Iran has become a symbol of hope for the countries of the Middle East and the enemies are exerting pressure on Iran in order to disappoint the Middle East's nations from the Iranian nation,' he added.

Larijani pointed out that the Iranians with their high turnout in the upcoming Majlis (parliamentary) elections will set a heavy blow to the enemy.
