President Ahmadinejad appears in Majlis to respond to questions

The president will answer ten questions on a variety of matters, including the government’s failure to meet an economic growth target of eight percent, as well as the implementation of its subsidies reform plan.

On February 7, Majlis announced that 79 Iranian lawmakers have motioned to summon President Ahmadinejad for inquires on a number of issues concerning his administration's domestic policies, as well as his recent appointment and removal of key officials.

According to Article 88 of the country’s Constitution, the president must appear before Majlis within a month of being summoned, unless legislators decide to withdraw their bid to question him.

Although 11 lawmakers have withdrawn their signature from the motion, the Presiding Board of the Majlis declared that the questioning would go ahead as planned since the 11 MPs did not withdraw their names from the motion within a week after its submission.
