Iran-Russia ties set to increase during Putin era

Sanaei said that under Dmitry Medvedev Russia showed a soft stance on the US and the West's policies especially on Iran.

"But" Sanaei said "Putin will adopt a hard and iron-fist policy on the West and definitely the Iran-Russia relations will grow stronger than before".

He said that the West and Russia have opposing interests with regard to issues like the US missile shield in Europe and the Islamic Awakening that swept the region in 2011.
