Falahatpisheh urges maximum development of Iran's ties with Uganda

Kampala, April 8 (ICANA) - Member of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh stressed Tehran's willingness to develop relations with African states, and described a maximum expansion of ties with Uganda as Iran's priority.

Falahatpisheh made the remarks in a meeting with a number of Ugandan lawmakers.

Falahatpisheh who heads an Iranian parliamentary delegation in Uganda to take part in the 126th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting also said that the ties between Iran and Uganda in various fields are at the highest level.

He noted mutual cooperation should be promoted to the highest level by signing agreements.

Referring to the status of Africa continent, especially friendly countries like Uganda, in Iran's foreign policy, he also voiced the Iranian parliament's readiness to support bolstering of bilateral ties.

"Iran boasts of numerous capacities for investing in various fields such as economy, commerce, industry, IT and agriculture in Uganda," he said.

Iran and Africa have sustained deep injuries from the colonial powers and now, time is ripe to heal the pains by forging bonds among the friendly countries, Falahatpisheh said.
