Iran should demand removal of sanctions in Baghdad talks

“Lifting the sanctions against Iran must be among the key demands of Iran during the negotiations with the P5+1 in Baghdad,” Kowsari said on Sunday.

During the latest round of the talks in the Turkish city of Istanbul on April 14, the P5+1 group retreated from its previous approaches given the deteriorating economic conditions in Europe and the US, he added.

“So, to find a way out of their current situation, they should pursue a rational attitude during the Baghdad meeting and refrain from enforcing the sanctions which will be definitely detrimental to themselves,” the Iranian legislator stated.

Kowsari went on to say, “The assassination of the Iranian nuclear scientists and the crimes committed in Bahrain and the silence of the international community, particularly the [UN] Security Council, on these crimes should be among the other issues to be discussed at the talks.”

He pointed to the fact that Europe and the US are not the only decision-makers in the international scene.

Other countries, particularly Iran, play a role in decision-makings, and the Western countries should pay attention to this notion so that they will be able to reach a desired outcome in their interactions with other states, specifically with Iran, he concluded.
