TEHRAN, May 6 (ICANA) – The Head of Majlis Commission on Foreign Policy and National Security, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, said on Saturday long steps have been taken to expand Iran-Iraq cooperation.

He made the remarks in a meeting with prominent Shi’it cleric Ayatollah Bahrol-Olumi in Iraqi religious city of Najaf.

Boroujerdi said signing of scores of agreements between Iranian and Iraqi officials laid a solid cornerstone for reconstruction of Iraq and this proves that both sides are determined to promote ties in all fields.

Ayatollah Bahrol-Olumi expressed pleasure with the current efforts to expand mutual ties and also expressed hope Iraqi authorities would reconstruct their homeland through unity and solidarity.

Heading a parliamentary delegation, Boroujerdi met some other clerics in Najaf and discussed with them regional developments as well as Iran-Iraq ties.
