Lifting Iran sanctions can prove P5+1 goodwill

“The Iranian nation cannot see sanctions, threats and international pressure on the one hand, and believe the West’s message [of] resolving the Iranian nuclear energy issue through diplomatic channels on the other,” Naqavi Hosseini said Monday.

“Therefore, it is necessary for the P5+1 - the US, Britain, France, China, and Russia plus Germany - to prove their goodwill in the first step by limiting [anti-Iran] sanctions and by lifting some of them,” the lawmaker added.

Hosseini said after the West proves its goodwill by lifting the sanctions, Iran will be ready to take the next step, the Majlis official news agency, ICANA, reported.

Referring to Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano’s visit to Iran, Hosseini said the trip would lead to Tehran and the IAEA moving closer in their positions.

“Amano’s presence in Iran will certainly lead to a common understanding of Iran's nuclear activities,” he said.
