Diplomatic pressure on Damascus proves west's hand in Houla killings

In an interview with ICANA on Wednesday, Sheikhoeslam said, "The terrorist acts in the city of Houla was swiftly followed by piling up more and more pressure on Damascus which can be viewed as a move to weaken the Syrian government's brave stance toward the hegemonic powers."

He further noted that Arab states, including Qatar and Saudi Arabia are to blame for the recent killings and not the government of Bashar al-Assad.

"Instead of accusing the Syrian government, the international community must prevent Qatar and Saudi Arabia and their western sponsors from providing weapons to the terrorists, enabling them to commit such crimes," he added.
