MP urges action at The Hague against Riyadh

Jalilian described Riyadh’s recent move against Iranian citizens as a ‘blatant violation of human rights,’ stressing that Tehran should file a suit with The Hague or the international court of justice against Saudi officials for disregarding the rights of foreign prisoners.

He also said that under Article 36 of the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations (VCCR), local authorities must inform all detained foreigners "without a delay" of their right to have their consulate notified of their detention and to communicate with their consular representatives.
