Speaking on the national day of banning the use of chemical and biological weapons, Esmaeili noted that the world’s “arrogant powers” are mass producers of such weapons.

“International organizations act in accordance with decisions and commands of these countries,” the lawmaker added.

He added that hegemonic powers were the main supporters of the former Iraqi Baath regime’s use of chemical weapons against Iranian civilians and military forces during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war against Iran.

“All chemical weapons used during the eight-year imposed war had been sold to Iraq by Western countries and superpowers,” the MP stated.

Esmaeili stated that the former Baathist regime of Iraq spared no effort to carry out criminal acts against Iran during the imposed war, adding that the use of chemical weapons was the biggest crime committed by that regime against the Iranian people.

He reiterated Iran's opposition to the use of weapons of mass destruction, saying that the Islamic Republic has voiced its objection to international organizations regarding this issue.
