In an interview with ICANA on Saturday, Davatgari said, "Officials in Washington stoke Iranophobia in the region to take the maximum advantage of certain countries in the Middle East,”.

He emphasized that the West and the United States foster arms race among the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf in order to create instability and tension in the region.

“The US, which is aware of the strategic importance of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, seeks to sow discord among [regional] countries to gain huge financial benefits,” the lawmaker added.

Davatgari stated that the countries purchasing arms from the US in the ongoing arms race will be the main victims of tension and instability in the region.

The Iranian lawmaker said security in the Middle East should be provided by regional countries, as meddling by a third country will foment insecurity and instability.”

He noted that an arms race among regional countries will first lead to domestic crises in these countries and then harm regional and international economy.
