US failed to make political changes in Syria

“The US is trying to make changes in Syria’s political structure by making use of Europe’s capacity and provoking certain Arab countries but it has so far failed to achieve a success,” Chairman of the Majlis (parliament) Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy Boroujerdi said ahead of his departure for Syria on Saturday.

It is only the UN Security Council’s duty to raise issues including imposing a no-fly zone and the US should not interfere in such matters, he added.

The Iranian legislator emphasized that the US should not deprive other countries of their rights.

Boroujerdi pointed to the latest developments in Syria and added that the Syrian people maintained their vigilance and succeeded in inflicting another defeat on the US.

He stressed the importance of discussing the Syria unrest during the forthcoming summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran, saying the meeting would be a “very good chance” for the bloc’s member states to make a common decision and find an immediate solution to the country’s crisis.
