Tehran, Sept 1, (ICANA) – Chairman of Iran Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi says the latest report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Iran's nuclear energy program has been influenced by the US and its Western allies.

IAEA Iran report influenced by the US and its allies

“Unfortunately the agency’s track records under [current Director General] Mr. [Yukiya] Amano have proved that he is under considerable influence of the viewpoints of the US and its Western allies,” Boroujerdi said on Friday.

“This is while the agency must be a technical and legal organization away from the influence of major powers,” Boroujerdi added.

The Iranian lawmaker described the report’s arguments as baseless as they are built on Iran's noncompliance with the UN Security Council resolutions.

“It is clear that we do not comply with these resolutions since we consider them unfair, political and non-legal,” Boroujerdi said.

Referring to another criticism leveled at Tehran by the IAEA because of not implementing the Additional Protocol to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, Boroujerdi said Iran has no obligation toward the Additional Protocol as it has not accepted the protocol.
