In an interview with ICANA on Tuesday, Ahmadi said, "Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's recent remarks claiming that Iran, China and Russia have no problem with the removal of al-Assad from power are completely baseless and Iran has never adopted such a stance."

He described Erdogan as a person being constantly influenced by the Western media's hype about Syria.

"Iranian government and nation clearly understand the different nature of the conflict in Syria and they will never back off support for Syria," he added.

"During the recent quartet meeting on Syria in the Egyptian capital Cairo which was also attended by Turkish foreign minister, Iran officially asked the parties to refrain from their efforts to force al-Assad to resign," he concluded.
