“The Noble Peace Prize is a tool in the hands of Western countries dependent upon the US and the Zionists (Israelis)… to further their objectives,” said Vahid Ahmadi, a member of Iran’s Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, on Monday.

On Friday, the Nobel Committee awarded the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize to the EU, praising the block for ‘incorporating Spain, Portugal and Greece following the collapse of their regimes in the 1970s and for bringing France and Germany to reconciliation after the World War II.’

The Iranian lawmaker further referred to the EU’s threats of imposing new sanctions on Iran, saying the embargoes seek to cover up the economic problems and social unrest that has gripped the block.

“All of the public protests in Western countries have led to the defeat of liberalism and capitalism and this has prompted these countries to adopt this measure (imposing sanctions on Iran) to cover up these protests,” he added.
