Domestic production growth can defuse West sanctions

“If production inside the country becomes prosperous, the enemy plots aimed at imposing pressure and sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran will fail,” Larijani said at the opening of the fourth Labor Parliament meeting in Tehran.

He explained how the US turned to imposing economic pressure after its “military adventurism” to force the Islamic Republic to its knees did not yield results.

“The US first tried supporting separatist groups but did not succeed in this, so it backed the Saddam regime during the eight years of holy defense (Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s), where it of course failed because the Iranian nation…resisted against the enemy’s invasion,” he recalled.

Larijani referred to the US-spearheaded accusations against Iran regarding the Islamic Republic’s nuclear energy program as part of political attempts made by Washington and its allies to pressure Iran.

“Although Iran has constantly emphasized it is not after nuclear weapons, they keep looking for excuses,” he complained.

Larijani said the West is seeking to divide the world countries into the nations enjoying super technologies and those who lack such expertise, denouncing the West’s resort to “policing measures and sanctions” to reach their goals.

The parliament speaker further called on Iranian officials to closely consider the restrictive measures and take position against them.

He hailed the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s call for boosting domestic production and preparing the grounds for Iranian investment as the right response to the illegal US-engineered sanctions.
