Cardiac arrest caused death of jailed blogger

“Based on postmortem exams, there is no sign of anything having been administered to him or any [lethal] blow having been inflicted on him ... and the coroner has pronounced cardiac arrest as the cause of his death,” Asafari said.

Asafari, however, noted that there have been a few bruises on the blogger's body and leg which are being investigated by forensic experts.

The MP stated that Dowlatabadi has assigned a team, comprising his personal representative, to visit the detention center the deceased blogger was held in, and submit a detailed report after questioning Beheshti’s inmates.

He added that Beheshti’s interrogators have been also indicted and some of them have been released on bail.

Iranian blogger Sattar Beheshti was arrested and charged with cybercrime. He passed away in prison.
