Esfanani described the Western countries’ approach to Iran as prejudiced and negative.

He added that such an approach has been taken to prepare anti-Iran reports and for the appointment of rapporteurs on Iran in the past.

Esfanani further said the appointment of Ahmed Shaheed as the UN special human rights rapporteur on Iran was a preplanned anti-Iran scenario, adding that people like Shaheed have no option but to write reports that serve Western interests.

The Iranian lawmaker stated that Shaheed, in preparing his report, has crossed into areas that are considered a form of meddling in the domestic affairs of countries.

He also slammed the West’s silence on human rights violation in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Myanmar.

“This is all while Iran, which is religiously committed to defend the oppressed [people of the world], is considered a violator of human rights,” Esfanani concluded.
