Sobhaninia said on Monday that Washington is pursuing a dual policy vis-a-vis Iran, adding that the US sometimes raises the issue of talks and at other times intensifies the sanctions against Tehran.

“These tools are used to influence the trend of [the Iran-P5+1] talks and to bring about the result that the US seeks,” Sobhaninia added.

The Iranian lawmaker said these measures are aimed at waging "a psychological war in the international arena" in order to influence the talks between Iran and the P5+1 (Britain, China, France, Russia, and the US plus Germany).

Referring to Iran’s negotiations with the IAEA, Sobhaninia said the US had derailed the talks, adding that, “The United States uses the agency and [its] experts as a political tool for psychological pressure, making the achievement or prediction of results difficult.”

In order to achieve results, the Iranian lawmaker said, negotiations must be conducted free from any pressure and based on the "existing realities" and valid documents.
