Tehran, Dec 25, (ICANA) – Member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Nowzar Shafie says that United Nations Special Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi's new plan for the embattled country has been devised under the heavy influence of Western governments and it lacks any realistic perception of the situation on the ground.

Brahimi's plan for Syria, unrealistic

In an interview with ICANA on Tuesday, Shafie said, "Any plan for establishing peace in Syria should be welcomed as the continued violence and bloodshed in the country would engulf the entire region in chaos and instability."

"However, Brahimi's new plan for transition of power from Assad to a new coalition government in 2014 would fail as it lacks any realistic perception of the country's situation," he added.
